Scottish independence: Experts' views on the economy
BBC Scotland asked four economists the question: "Do we yet know if Scots would be better or worse off in an independent Scotland?"
Prof Gavin McCrone, a former Scottish Office economist, said: "The costs of actual separation are not really quantified", while Prof David Bell, of Stirling University, added: "There might not be a clear answer until after the negotiations should independence occur."
Dr Angus Armstrong, of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, argued "monetary union and currencies" were a key issue, while economist Jo Armstrong added: "We have insufficient evidence to suggest one way or the other."
