Crowds greet the Queen in Edinburgh

The Queen has arrived in Edinburgh to greeted by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon before setting off by stream train to open the Borders railway.

Prince Philip accompanied the Queen on the journey from Waverley train station in the royal Pullman carriage.

Thousands of people lined the route to catch a glimpse of Britain's longest serving monarch.
