Wife 'could smell' husband's Parkinson's disease before diagnosis

A new study is being launched into whether Parkinson's disease can be detected by a unique odour on the skin.

Researchers in Edinburgh, Manchester and London believe that changes in the skin of people with early Parkinson's results in a particular odour linked to the condition.

They hope that, by finding the molecule responsible, they could develop a simple way to detect the disease early.

BBC Scotland's Elizabeth Quigley reports.
