Minister Nicola Sturgeon says government's package of bills 'will be radical'

Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the Scottish government would be making the most of the powers it had and would present a "radical" legislative programme to parliament.

Scotland's first minister will later outline his plans for the year ahead, little more than 12 months before the independence referendum.

Alex Salmond will detail a list of 13 bills, including draft legislation on the government's £30bn spending plans.

Ms Sturgeon told BBC Radio Scotland's Good Morning Scotland programme: "When decisions are taken in Scotland we get better decisions - so having decision making power on health and education in Scotland has, for example, given us free personal care for the elderly and tuition that is open to all without tuition fees having to be paid."
