Local councils in Wales could be cut after review
There is speculation that a new commission set up to look at how public services are delivered in Wales could result in a major shake-up of councils.
It follows calls from senior local government figures who have urged the Welsh government to reduce the number of councils.
There are currently 22 councils and 1,264 councillors. Wales has more councillors per head of population than both England and Scotland.
Reporter Steven Fairclough asked people in Merthyr Tydfil, the council area with the smallest population in Wales, their views.
Mike Hedges, Assembly Member for Swansea East and former leader of Swansea council, and local government consultant Jeff Jones then discussed the issue with Bethan Rhys Roberts on BBC Radio Wales.
