Pendine trials 3G boost using Vodafone's open femto

Pendine in Carmarthenshire is one of the first communities in the Wales to trial a "community-led network" with local businesses helping to bring 3G coverage to an where traditional mobile coverage has been hard to reach.

Units, about the size of a small suitcase, have been placed at a number of locations around the village, and use the broadband services to deliver a 3G mobile signal to give a good spread of coverage.

Pendine is one of 12 locations across the UK trialling Vodafone's "open femto" signal boosters.

Phil Darbyshire, owner of Parry's restaurant in Pendine, explains more to Oliver Hides on BBC Radio Wales' Good Morning Wales.
