Aberystwyth University vice-chancellor 'surprised' by allegations

The vice-chancellor of Aberystwyth University says she is puzzled and surprised by allegations that it is being run "like a dictatorship".

The University and College Union (UCU) claims Aberystwyth University managers are behaving like schoolground bullies and staff are fearful for their jobs.

University vice-chancellor Prof April McMahon said the relationship between managers and staff was positive and collegial and she would like to know why the union had not raised the issue of bullying with her directly.

Prof McMahon spoke to BBC Wales reporter Craig Duggan.
