NHS 'queue jumping': AMs want inquiry over conflicting accounts
Patients might be jumping the queue for treatment on the NHS by paying to see hospital consultants privately, according to a report by the Welsh assembly's public accounts committee.
It has called for an investigation by the public spending watchdog after hearing conflicting accounts.
Conservative Darren Millar, the chair of the public accounts committee, said there was no way of monitoring how many hours of private consultancy consultants were doing outside work.
He claimed there was an incentive for consultants to increase waiting times for NHS patients so they went private.
Mr Millar spoke to Peter Johnson on BBC Radio Wales.
