Sepsis: Campaign highlights killer condition

It is estimated 1,850 people die of sepsis every year in Wales, killing more people in the country than breast cancer and bowel cancer combined.

On World Sepsis Day, a campaign has been launched to help identify the condition and deliver treatment as quickly as possible.

Sepsis can lead to swelling and blood clotting - and cause internal organs to stop working.

The most common causes of severe sepsis are pneumonia, bowel perforation, urinary infection, and severe skin infections.

If left undiagnosed sufferers could die within a matter of hours.
