UK City of Culture: Swansea council leader's swipe at Hull

The leader of Swansea council has taken a swipe at UK City of Culture winners Hull.

David Phillips, who is also newly appointed chair of the Swansea Bay City Region, told BBC Radio Wales: "If you live in Hull, you've got to have something to look forward to I suppose."

Mr Phillips admitted he was "bitterly disappointed" with the outcome.

"There were too many good ideas in the bid, we're not going to let them slip through our fingers," he said.

"I don't think there was anything wrong with the bid. Clearly Hull's was stronger than ours."
