'Pioneering' Welsh drama Hinterland hits screens in English

The Welsh TV detective drama Hinterland will get its first airing in English this weekend.

The series, starring Richard Harrington, was filmed bilingually in the Aberystwyth area and got its first showing last year on S4C.

A quarter of those who watched S4C's Welsh language version, Y Gwyll, were from outside Wales, and it has already been sold to the Danish broadcaster behind the hit series The Killing.

Hinterland starts on BBC One Wales on Saturday 4 January at 21:30 GMT.
