Wales health: New system for serious NHS failures

Health boards and services across Wales could be put into special measures under new plans to tackle serious failings in the NHS.

The changes come after a damning report, which blamed mismanagement of the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board in north Wales for a catalogue of errors.

The Welsh government proposals would focus on detecting problems earlier and preventing them from getting worse.
