Gleision mine deaths: Malcolm Fyfield 'breached' safety
The manager of a coal mine where four men died failed to comply with safety regulations, a jury has heard.
Swansea Crown Court was told Malcolm Fyfield took "staggering risks" at Gleision drift mine in the Swansea valley, which flooded with underground water following the use of explosives in 2011.
David Powell, 50, Charles Breslin, 62, Philip Hill, 44, and Garry Jenkins, 39, died in the incident.
The prosecution said it was a single, catastrophic mistake that should never have been made.
Mr Fyfield and mine owners MNS deny manslaughter charges.
