Cardiff and Vale GP out-of-hours service 'stretched'

Cardiff and the Vale University Health Board has consistently missed a series of targets for dealing with out of hours care over the past year, new figures show.

People are waiting too long to be assessed over the phone and to be seen by medical staff, according to the local community health council, leading to a more people turning up at A&E "inappropriately".

Stephen Allen, chief officer of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan Community Health Council and Dr Charlotte Jones, chairman of the General Practitioners Committee Wales spoke to BBC Radio Wales.
