Questions over hospital inspections in Wales

A day on from the publication of a damning report into elderly care failings at the Princess of Wales and Neath Port Talbot hospitals, questions are being asked about the Welsh government's response and the system of inspecting the Welsh NHS.

Plaid Cymru claim Wales-wide spot-checks announced on Tuesday are simply a re-hash of a plan introduced three years ago.

And the Older People's Commissioner has called into question the effectiveness of Health Inspectorate Wales after it raised no serious concerns during an inspection of the Princess of Wales Hospital in 2012.
