'Faiths and civic dialogue' call by former Cardiff leader Russell Goodway

The former leader of Cardiff council says the "very good" relations between the city's Muslim community and the local authority should be used to identify extremists.

Councillor Russell Goodway told BBC Wales that people in Cardiff would be "surprised and shocked" to learn that two local men have appeared in an apparent internet recruitment video for jihadists in Syria and Iraq.

The father of aspiring medical student Nasser Muthana, 20 and from Cardiff, has spoken of his shock at seeing his son in the video.

The BBC understands another of the men in the video is Reyaad Khan, also 20, and from the city.

Mr Goodway spoke to the Sunday Politics Wales programme.
