Health warning as bug hits Ysgol Brynrefail, Llanrug

More than 400 pupils have been reported as being absent from a Gwynedd high school hit by a sickness and diarrhoea bug, it has been confirmed.

Around half of the 780 pupils at Ysgol Brynrefail in Llanrug, near Caernarfon, did not attend lessons on Friday following the outbreak, Public Health Wales said.

But it stressed not all absentees had been confirmed as having the virus.

Pupils and staff have been advised to stay home for 48 hours after recovering from symptoms of vomiting or diarrhoea.

Dafydd Gwynne of Public Health Wales said there were precautions that could be taken to prevent illness.
