Talyllyn Railway steam loco celebrates 150th birthday

Rail enthusiasts are celebrating the 150th birthday of one of Wales' oldest steam locomotives.

Loco Number 1 has returned to the Talyllyn Railway at Tywyn, Gwynedd, after repairs at the Ffestiniog Railway's Boston Lodge works.

As old as the former slate railway which opened in 1864, the loco had been badly damaged while in service in April.

Talyllyn's general manager Christopher Price said the celebrations show how popular steam railways have become.
