Spot checks: Mark Drakeford says results are 'reassuring'

The results of spot checks at hospitals across Wales have been "reassuring", the health minister has said.

Mark Drakeford said the "difficulties" at the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, which led to the inspectors being sent in were not "systemic".

Investigators carried out spot checks at 20 hospitals across Wales prompted by criticisms of elderly patient care.

They found there were aspects of management of medicines that needed to be improved "in the vast majority" of the 70 wards inspected.

They also looked at continence care, hydration and night-time sedation.

Mr Drakeford spoke to BBC Wales health correspondent Owain Clarke.
