Sir Terry Matthews backs software firms for Pembrokeshire
Welsh billionaire Sir Terry Matthews has chaired his first board meeting of the Swansea Bay City Region.
The region encompasses the Local Authority areas of Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
Sir Terry, who has launched more than 100 technology companies as well as building and developing the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, said his job is to help improve the region.
South west Wales is an area that is struggling with unemployment compared to the rest of Wales as a whole according to figures from June, and those in work are earning less.
But Sir Terry said there are lots of opportunities, including in Pembrokeshire, where the sale of the Murco oil refinery collapsed leaving close to 400 jobs being lost.
