'Harness community' against grass fires, says minister

There has been a call to 'harness the energy' of communities battling to stamp-out grass fires that have been started across Wales.

The Public Services minister, Leighton Andrews, said there was a backlash against those setting the fires - and that could help halt the arsonists.

It comes as a Welsh government summit on the issue gets under way on Wednesday, with 900 fires already reported this year.

Mr Andrews told BBC Wales that it was only a matter of time before someone was seriously injured or killed by the grass fires.
