Neighbour retrieved man's severed hand after DIY accident

A man who cut his own hand off in a DIY accident involving a circular saw has said his neighbours rallied round to help him after the accident.

Edryd Jones, 69, was cutting timber at home in Ferndale, Rhondda Cynon Taff, when his left hand was severed.

While one friend called an ambulance, another went into Mr Jones's house to retrieve his hand and put it on ice.

"My watch was still on my wrist," said Mr Jones.
