Staff 'ashamed' to work for Betsi Cadwaladr health board

Staff are "ashamed" to work for a north Wales health board criticised by inspectors in an annual report, it has been claimed.

Healthcare Inspectorate Wales found "several significant issues" during mental health inspections of Betsi Cadwaladr health board.

Unison regional secretary in Wales Margaret Thomas said concerns had been raised by staff, and moral was "low".

Executive medical director Professor Matt Makin welcomed the report and said the health board would continue to "identify areas of best practice" for improvement.

The health board was put into special measures by the Welsh government in June after a damning report into the Tawel Fan ward at Glan Clwyd Hospital, Denbighshire.
