Blitzkrieg bombings remembered in John Humphrys documentary

The 75th anniversary of the Blitzkrieg bombings will be marked as Cardiff-born journalist John Humphrys meets south Wales survivors.

Mr Humphrys interviewed Elaine Kidwell from Swansea, who was the youngest British warden in 1941, for BBC One Wales' Blitz Wales.

He also looked into the history of Cardiff Castle and Llandaff Cathedral.

Around 100 German planes headed directly for south Wales from French airfields on 2 January, 1941.

Ms Kidwell, who was 17 at the time, said she "still shudders" when recalling the scenes unfold on Swansea's Wind Street.

Blitz Wales will be shown on BBC One Wales on Wednesday at 21:00 BST.
