The company confirmed 750 jobs would go at Port Talbot and another 300 at steel mills in Llanwern in Newport, Trostre near Llanelli and at Corby and Hartlepool plants in England.

Port Talbot Steelworks' owner Tata employs 4,000 people at the site and 6,000 in Wales.

The steelworkers' union Community said losses would be 750 in Port Talbot and another 300 at other Tata sites in the UK, including Llanwern in Newport and Trostre in Llanelli.
