Wales NHS: Waiting times 'not prioritised as much'

NHS patients in Wales wait longer for treatment and diagnosis than patients in England for nearly all the main categories, BBC Wales has revealed.

Hip operations showed the biggest difference in comparable figures - with an average wait in England of 75 days, compared to 197 in Wales in 2014/15.

Diagnosis of heart disease takes on average 10 days longer in Wales.

The Welsh government said it recognised some waiting times were too long but had "clear plans" to reduce them.

Nigel Edwards, chief executive of health charity the Nuffield Trust, said Wales did not seem to have prioritised waiting times as much as England.
