World record-breaking Cardiff runner battling rare virus
A world record-breaking runner and celebrity performance coach from Cardiff has said he is "lucky to be alive" after being struck down by a rare virus.
Rory Coleman, 54, from Canton, has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome.
The condition, which attacks the nervous system, has left the ultra-marathon runner in a wheelchair.
"I've had some really dark days. It gives you a new perspective on life," he said.
Mr Coleman, who has been admitted to Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales, has been posting videos online chronicling his illness and his recovery.
