Cardiff law firm switches London commute from rail to air

Flights are taking off between Cardiff and London - aimed at business people and in competition with rail services.

The FlyBe flights to London City airport, scheduled to take one hour and 15 minutes, coincide with engineering works between south Wales and Paddington.

The three times-a day service will run until 21 October, the same time as the Severn Tunnel is closed as part of the rail electrification programme., external

Passengers have been warned of up to 45 minutes extra on journey times.

Chris Nott, whose Cardiff law firm is doing regular business in the city of London, said electrification could not come quickly enough.

He said the flights during the engineering works would give an alternative.
