Cardiff to London air link must continue - Alun Cairns

Flights are taking off between Cardiff and London aimed at business people and in competition with rail services.

The FlyBe flights to London City airport, scheduled to take one hour and 15 minutes, coincide with engineering works between south Wales and Paddington.

The three times-a day service will run until 21 October, the same time as the Severn Tunnel is closed as part of the rail electrification programme., external

Welsh Secretary Alun Cairns said he hoped it would continue afterwards and that it was important strategically for the financial centres of London and Cardiff to be connected.
