Lasers shone at aircraft 'can be catastrophic' for pilots

A pilot who was flying a Wales Air Ambulance helicopter when a laser pen was shone at it, temporarily blinding a medic, said the incident could have been "catastrophic".

Cpt Grant Elgar was flying the rescue helicopter over Swansea Bay when it was targeted on 5 November.

He was not affected by the incident which was filmed by the on-board camera.

But he said if he had been blinded by the light, the outcome could have affected more than just those on board.
