Puffin Island: Dolphins surprise fishermen off Welsh coast

A pod of dolphins surprised a man and his father-in-law while they were on their way to a fishing trip off the Welsh coast.

Andrew Silverwood said he was travelling to Puffin Island, off the coast of Anglesey, at about 09:50 BST on Monday morning when the small pod approached their boat in West Shore Bay, near Llandudno, Conwy county.

Dolphins are seen in Welsh waters fairly often, with Cardigan Bay home to one of only two semi-resident groups in the UK.
