Teachers' strike: Mum says she will miss work as schools close

Thousands of pupils are being told to stay home due to teachers' strikes on Wednesday, with many set to close all together.

Melissa Bartlett, a mother-of-two from Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, said she would have to take a day off work to take care of her daughter, whose school will be shut.

"So I miss out on a day's pay," she said, adding: "I think we all would like a little more money... but is it the way forward? I don't know."

However, fellow mother Kirsty Bale said: "I'm not against it really, they're doing what needs to be done."
