Cardiff: Thousands of bees swarm on St Mary Street

A swarm of bees descended on one of Cardiff's main shopping areas, forcing part of the street to be cordoned off.

Shoppers on St Mary Street had to walk around the cones.

Bees swarm like this when a colony reproduces and the old queen leaves with some of the hive.

This natural process often happens on warm sunny days from May until the end of July.
