GVA: Welsh economy 'catching up' on gross value added

Welsh Secretary Stephen Crabb says the Welsh economy is catching up with the rest of the UK despite still being bottom for gross value added (GVA).

GVA statistics show the value of wages and profits from goods and services produced.

The figures show Wales had the UK's lowest GVA per head at £16,893 in 2013 while London had the highest at £40,215.

But Mr Crabb said he was pleased to see that Wales - along with north west England - was showing the biggest growth over the year of any UK region at 3.4%.
