Assisted dying bill 'offers choice' to terminally ill

A friend of a former north Wales councillor with terminal cancer who went to Switzerland to end his life has urged MPs to legalise assisted dying.

Bob Cole, 68, who had lived in Blaenau Ffestiniog, went in August to a clinic in Zurich where his wife died in 2014.

Welsh Tory MP Glyn Davies has vowed to oppose a bill on assisted dying when MPs debate it on Friday, claiming it would "normalise" suicide.

Pryderi ap Rhisiart, who was a friend of Mr Cole, said people who were suffering should have a choice over their time of death.
