Cardiff binge drink NHS centre wins award
A pop-up "drunk tank" that treats binge drinkers in Cardiff city centre has won an award for its work.
For nearly two years Cardiff's alcohol treatment centre has been trying to ease the pressure on the busy accident and emergency department at the University Hospital of Wales at weekends.
Last month, the Royal College of Nursing suggested drunk people would be better treated in alcohol treatment centres - so-called drunk tanks - to ease pressure on A&Es.
After Cardiff's success, similar units could be set up in Wrexham and Swansea.
