Silvio Berlusconi says he will resign as Italian borrowing rates hit 7%

Silvio Berlusconi has pledged to resign as Prime Minister. This comes after a critical budget vote revealed that he no longer holds the majority in parliament.

He will step down once the Italian parliament passes through an economic reform package. The process should take no more than a few weeks.
