Sepp Blatter tells BBC: 'I am sorry'

Fifa president Sepp Blatter has told the BBC he is sorry for causing offence following his controversial statements on racism in football, but says he won't resign.

In an exclusive interview with BBC sports editor David Bond, the 75-year-old read out a statement saying he was committed to the "fight against racism".

Blatter recently denied there was any racism on the football pitch, and suggested that if one player used a racial insult to another, the two should settle the dispute by shaking hands.
