Former US Secretary of Labor Robert Reich on shutdown

As the partial shutdown of the US government continues, a former US Secretary of Labor has been outlining what the consequences may be for the US and world economies.

Robert Reich, who served in the Clinton administration in the 1990s, said that the looming deadline for the debt ceiling may be an added concern for the markets.

Mr Reich, who is now at the University of California at Berkeley, has also made a new film called Inequality For All, about America's economic problems.

He told the BBC the markets had shown a muted response to the shutdown.
