Pope Francis to canonise two Palestinian nuns

Two nuns who lived in Ottoman-ruled Palestine during the 19th Century will be made saints by Pope Francis.

Just last week the Vatican formally recognised the Palestinian state, and President Mahmoud Abbas will be in St Peter's Square for the ceremony.

The decision to confer sainthood on the nuns is seen as a gesture of support for the dwindling Christian communities in the region.
