How far has Nigeria left behind its British colonial heritage?

On Friday Africa's most populous country Nigeria celebrates its 50th birthday.

It has had a tumultuous history since independence along the way becoming one of the world's major oil producers and a cultural power house for the region.

But how responsible is Britain the old colonial master for this complex heritage?
