Clooney: 'First step on long road to peace in Sudan'
Actor and activist George Clooney has said the start of a landmark referendum on independence in Southern Sudan is the start of a 'long road to peace'.
The actor was in Juba for the start of the vote and said he was wanted to help continue to draw attention to the referendum.
The mainly Muslim north has promised to allow the potential new country, where most people are Christian or animists, to secede peacefully.
