Coalition missile damages Gaddafi building in Tripoli

The US says allied forces have had some success against Col Gaddafi's defences in a second night of air attacks in Libya.

An apparent missile strike caused extensive damage to Col Gaddafi's compound in the capital, Tripoli.

But a mission involving British Tornados was aborted to avoid possible civilian casualties.

In the first criticism of the attacks, the Arab League has insisted it did not want to see the bombardment of the Libyan people although it backed the no-fly zone.
