Ivory Coast conflict: UN-brokered talks with Gbagbo fail

France has said that UN-brokered talks with incumbent President Laurent Gbagbo, negotiating terms for his departure, have failed.

French and UN troops are attempting to maintain security around Abidjan under the terms of a UN Security Council resolution.
