Summit urges Gaddafi to stand down

The newly formed international "contact group" on Libya has called for Colonel Muammar Gaddafi to stand down as the country's leader.

The call came in a final statement read out by Qatar's prime minister at a summit on Libya in Doha.

Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabr Al Thani said that participants agreed that Gaddafi's regime is now "weak".

Delegates were meeting in Qatar, with rebels seeking to topple Col Gaddafi making their first high-profile diplomatic appearance.
