Tears and joy as South Sudan set to declare independence

On 9 July 2011 the Republic of South Sudan will become the world's newest nation.

Following a referendum in January the people of southern Sudan voted overwhelmingly to declare independence from the north.

As the deadline approaches southerners living in the northern part of the region are leaving in huge numbers.

The BBC has been to meet some of those who have lost their jobs and their homes.

Zeinab Badawi reports.
