First UN aid drop in drought-hit Somalia

In Somalia, an operation to airlift emergency supplies into the capital Mogadishu is underway.

Tonnes of nutritional supplements are being transferred to Mogadishu from Kenya to feed malnourished children.

It is the first of 10 airlifts by the UN World Food Programme (WFP) in response to the drought in the Horn of Africa.

The Islamist al-Shabab militia, which controls much of Somalia, has banned the WFP from its areas.

Will Ross reports.
