Ban Ki-moon: 'Somalis asked, does the world care?'

The UN secretary general has told delegates at a major conference in London that he envisages a better future for Somalia.

African and Western leaders are meeting to discuss the country's future, with issues including political change, terrorism and piracy on the agenda.

Ban Ki-moon said that when he visited the world's biggest refugee camp, Somalis asked him whether the world really cared.

But he said remarkable gains had now been made, and paid tribute to soldiers who had given their lives for peace in Somalia.
