Nigerian troops fight Islamists Boko Haram

Nigeria says it is using fighter jets and helicopter gunships in a massive assault on Islamic militants in the north-east.

If follows President Goodluck Jonathan's declaration of a state of emergency in the states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.

All three states are strongholds of the militant group Boko Haram.
