Marikana mine shootings marked one year on

Thousands of people have attended a memorial service marking the anniversary of the deaths of 34 miners in police gunfire at the Marikana platinum mine.

The owner of the mine apologised to the families of the dead men at the ceremony, marking a shift in attitude from the company.

But many people remain angry and frustrated at the slow pace of the commission of inquiry into the events.

Andrew Harding reports from Marikana.
